Are you our new Rails engineer?

wawa fertility is changing the fertility experience for both patients, and care teams. Patients and care teams alike deserve more from their software: it’s dated, time consuming, error-prone and inflexible. We’re fixing that - and our customers love us.

We’re in the business of building great tools. We believe great tools are fast, with accommodations for new users and power-users. We’re building those - and we’re building them fast!

Some examples of interesting things we’ve built lately:

  • A scheduling system for clinic administrators, saving them lots of time
  • An embryo development tracker, which can share timelapses to the patient app
  • A visual overview of the follicle/hormone development process, which is much easier to understand than the existing spreadsheets
  • A revamped consent documentation module, coordinating signatures across multiple parties
  • A Lexical.js based rich text editor for patient notes and letters

We’re looking for an experienced engineer that’s excited about everything Rails.

Our stack includes:

  • Rails 7
  • Hotwire
  • Postgres
  • Tailwind
  • Kamal
  • GraphQL for app APIs
  • Google Cloud Platform

We’re a small team, so we keep our processes minimal. Everyone has direct access - and is expected to - interact and support customers and end-users regularly. Everyone is expected to manage their own time.

You’ll succeed here if:

  • You like a high-tempo environment. We’re building things as quickly as we can learn. Our flavour of high-tempo isn’t cutting corners and delivering a series of janky MVPs: it’s individual responsibility, quick decision making, a willingness to make cheap mistakes and leap through two-way doors.
  • You can build a feature end-to-end. You’ll start with a discussion, a sketch, or a high-fidelity design - whatever the current task calls for.
  • You’re responsible for your work - defining timelines, keeping everyone on the same page about our progress/obstacles/etc.
  • You have great communication skills
  • You aren’t afraid to give and receive help - we’re all learning and trying new things
  • You’re excited to go that extra mile on the design side, occasionally.
  • You are in a European timezone.
